Is it possible to earn a salary whilst studying at ECU?

Yes, all students are employed on a 12 month contract by a partner hospital.

When does the course commence and what is the duration?

The Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery commences in mid-January for a 41 week period.

How do I get in contact with a Partner Hospital for employment as a midwifery student?

Students need to do two things: Apply to the University for Admission to the course and at the same time gain employment as a midwifery student. A list of partner hospitals and contact numbers are in the Application Pack we send to you.

When I finish the midwifery course, where would I be able to work?

After graduation you will be eligible to work in any Australian state and territory. Most midwives are employed in hospitals in both the public and private sectors. You may choose to work in large, tertiary hospitals in the metropolitan region, rural and remote settings, in the community or in Birth Centres.

Is the course available part-time, and is it offered at the Joondalup Campus?

The course is available by full-time study on campus at Joondalup.  Students can enrol in one online unit in the semester prior to the commencement of the course.
