The Master of Science (Midwifery) By Research will further extend the research expertise and clinical knowledge of a midwife who has mastered the skills and professional requirements of a particular setting. This qualification may also facilitate progression to an academic, or senior clinical or research appointments.

What Qualifications Do I Require For Admission?

  • Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or its equivalent and two years’ post-registration clinical experience. (Applicants who do not meet these criteria may be accepted into the program on the basis of recognised prior learning).
  • Applicants must be eligible for registration as a midwife in Division One of the Register of the Nurses and Midwives Board of Western Australia.
  • Applicants will be expected to be proficient in English and evidence of this will be sought if the applicant’s undergraduate medical degree was taught in a language other than English. Overseas applicants must provide evidence of proficiency in the English language (e.g., IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 550.)

What Career Pathways Are Available?

Graduates will be able to pursue leadership roles in research, education and advanced clinical midwifery practice.

Location / Mode of Study

The Master of Science (Midwifery) is a two year full-time or equivalent part-time course available via internal study at the Joondalup campus.
